for this shorter than usual issue of your pretty face.. i asked my friends for writing prompts / what they would like to read about via twitter and ended up writing about my garden, mummy parcels, the x-files and snack time.

niin no viime kerrasta on taas aikaa mutta blah blah blah samat vanhat tekosyyt niistä joskus myöhemmin. mie kävin viime viikonloppuna leedsissä zinefestailemassa. kuten yleensä mie en ottanu kuvia melkein mistään paitsi mun pöydästä ja vietin koko päivän pöytäni takana lähinnä yksin. jostain kumman syystä melkein aina kun järjestäjät järjestävät pöytäjärjestyksen, minä päädyn kauas kavereista ja mulla on superyksinäinen olo vaikka huone on tyylin täynnä kavereita. ja minähän en ikinä tuo pöytä seuraa kuten moni muu. me tehtiin ystäväni kirstyn kanssa sopimus että ensi kerralla pyydetään että ollaan vierekkäin tjsp. tuntuikohan se vaan pahemmalta tällä kertaa kun tapahtuma oli yllättävän hiljainen? leedsillä oli punk ja DIY taivas maine joten ois luullu että siellä zinet yms olisivat super suosittuja. enpä tiiä. ehkä ihmiset ei vaan tullu meidän nurkkaan (mulla oli selkä loppuhuonetta kohti joten en oikein nähny että mikä oli meininki...) tai ehkä se että uusi isompi tapahtumapaikka ei ole keskustassa kuten aiempi mesta vaikutti asiaan. en tiiä. mutta hei kyl mie varmaan menen ensi vuonna taas :D

so yeah it's been a while since my last blogpost but blah blah blah whatever same old excuse i might mention later on. or not. last weekend i popped up to leeds to do some zine festing. as usual i didn't take photos of anything other than my table really and spent most of the day alone behind my table (i did manage to get quite a bit of crochet done. which did lead to me running out of wool on the megabus home. oops.) for some reason usually whenever zinefest organisers assign the table locations i almost always seem to end up on the opposite side of the room from all of my friends and being lonely as fuck even though the room is technically full of my friends. and i never bring any tabling company (just my knitting) me and my friend kirsty made a deal to ask to be put next to each other next time we table at the same thing. (might be a while now though...) i might have felt extra lonely not only cos i was feeling extra emotionally fragile (yay!) but also cos the event seemed surprisingly quiet? leeds kinda has a reputation of being a punk & diy haven so you'd think zines etc would be super popular. i dunno. maybe it was actually busy but people just didn't wander into our corner and i just couldn't tell cos my back was facing the rest of the room... or maybe the change of venue had something to do with it? left bank was lovely and much bigger but it isn't in the city centre like wharf chambers and probably a little harder to get to... i dont know. it was still a good zinefest though, no organisational complaints, and i broke even, just about. but considering how broke i am in real life, i could have really done with better sales. (apparently it wasn't just me, my friends did mention not doing 'as good as usual' on the sales part. but hey we don't do these things for the £££ but it helps. i hate to sound like i'm obsessed with the capitalist side but ££ is a big deal when you're broke. it's easy to not give a fuck about money when you dont need to worry about paying your bills) anyway here's some pix?

mie suunnittelin ottavani 'zinefest style' asukuvia kaikista tyylikkäistä immeisistä, street style blogien tyyliin mutta hups mie unohdin noin viisi minuuttia idean ja ekan kuvan jälkeen. kunnes oli melkein aika pakata ja mennä kotiin ja otin äkkiä kuvia kavereista. hupsan. mutta tässä on ottamani kuvat :D

zine festailut ♥ ♥ ♥ / zine festing

hups. on taas menny vahingossa vähän hiljaseksi. en muista miksi. oli kai tarkoitus kirjoittaa uutta kunnon zineä (näin on tehty ja kunhan saan jostain uuden liimatikun niin alan askartelee paskartelee mitä olen jo kirjoittanut.) ja mie oon kans hieman sairastellu tai jotain. ugh. ja nyt ei oo enää paljon ees zinefesteistä sanottavaa. aika perusreissu. oli kivaa, näin kavereita ja muuta zineväkeä, myin zinejä, tein vaihtokauppoja ja hankin myös uutta / lisää myytävää distroa varten, niin ja pyöritin viime hetken minizine työpajan. kuten aina, mie en muistanut taaskaan ottaa paljon kuvia tai mitään.. mutta tässä kuva jonka otin vampire sushi pöydästä ennen kuin kukaan kerkes tulla ostamaan ja sotkemaan, ja kuva jonka ystäväni Sarah-Beth otti minulle. ja sitten ja minun 'ostoksia'...

oopsies. been a while since i blogged, yet again. can't exactly remember why anymore. i think i've been kinda busy working on a new zine, since i had to start from scratch for reasons that aren't mine to tell (ooooh so cryptic) and though i feel like i've been slacking and not done anything and have writer's block, i do have almost 3000 words ready to cut and paste on to paper as soon as i get a fresh gluestick. i've also been a bit poorly, just getting better now. there's not much to say about sheffield zine fest. i had fun times, saw friends and zine folk, sold lots of zines & prints, traded a bunch of zines and got new distro stock. oh and ran a last minute minizine workshop. and as usual with zine fests, i didn't really take any pictures, cos i never get around to it! but here's one i did manage to take of my table, and a picture of me at my table taken by Sarah-Beth for me. and then some of my 'haul'.

1. kuva: vaihtokaupat, paitsi muistinpa juuri että mie ostin ostin Poor Lass #3n. puolet olen jo jopa kerennyt lukemaan ♥ &hearts &hearts. lemppareita ovat scratch that itch #4 ja ellipsis #4 näin äkkii, 2. kuva: ostoksia + vaihtokauppoja ystävältäni steve larderilta, vihdoin oma ihan Copy Scams 10" levy jee! se on ihan paras. zine aiheista pop punkkia. 3. kuva: vikat ostokset Marching Stars distrosta, se kun on valitettavasti menossa kiinni :( (kantsii mennä tilaamaan jotain ennen kuin on liian myöhäistä!) 4. kuva näyttää uutta distro varastoo! niiden sivuille lisäily on vielä hieman kesken, mutta loppuviikosta viim.

seuraavat zinefest hommat on toukokuun lopussa, kaksi peräkkäistä viikonloppua huh huh = DIY cultures lontoossa ja Northwest Zine Fest manchesterissa. siihen mennessä pitäis olla jo uutta kunnon zineä valmiiksi jee.

next bit of zinefesting fun is at the end of may, with TWO IN TWO WEEKEND IN A ROW OMG = DIY Cultures in london on 24th May and Northwest Zine Fest in manchester on the 30th. (also, the julie ruin gig that was cancelled last spring has been rescheduled for 26th may, so that's gonna be a heavy seven days..) by then i reckon i will have a proper new zine done.

OMG NEW ZINE. and zine festing!

hey i just finished a new zine called I'M DRAWING A BLANK #2 and it's a collection of drawings. i've got 20 copies hot off the press that i'm taking to Sheffield Zine Fest this weekend. i also made a little 'rambled excuses why i haven't made a proper (per)zine in a whole year' mini zine that makes no sense/will interest no one who doesn't either know me or read my zines. i propably wont make any more copies of it but it does fold out to a poster of yours truly ha ha ha (or a drawing called girls girls girls) I'M DRAWING A BLANK #2 is 22 pages and £1 and the mini zine is free with other zines especially if you buy one of my older issues. 

so yes, i will be at SHEFFIELD ZINE FEST this saturday tabling with VAMPIRE SUSHI DISTRO. and i'm also doing a mini zine workshop at 1pm! for more info visit their facebook event page and/or twitter. if you can make it, you should totally come! it’ll be mythird year in row and it’s always been lots of fun. maybe this year i’ll finally make it down the helter skelter in the reception of the venue?

i'm hopping a train to london to catch a megabus to yorkshire straight after work tomorrow so i should probably go pack up the distro stock and a change of clothes etc. i have no idea what to wear. halp! see you in sheffield?
